Change Over Time Across an Area Help

This tabular report allows comparisons to be made over time for a selected indicator for various areas. For example, for a selected indicator the report could show change over time for a number of Intermediate Geographies. The report produces tabular output, a thematic map and chart.

You will be asked to select the primary Area Type and then the specific geographic area within that Area Type for which you wish to view the map. An example could be to choose an Area Type of 'Local Authority' and then within that an Area to be reported on of 'Fife'.

You should then choose a secondary Area Type that will be a lower level by which the report will display the statistics (e.g. Intermediate Geography in which case all Intermediate Geographies will be selected). No matter what Area Type is chosen, all Areas contained within it will appear on the report. The report will include indicators for all secondary areas within the primary area.

Thus the drop-down values available when you select the second Area Type depend on the first Area Type chosen.

The next step is for you to choose the particular indicator you are interested in. In order to find the indicator, you will first be offered a choice of Topics and then a list of the core indicators within the topics.

The list of indicators displayed will only contain those available for the chosen Area Type.

The statistics are displayed with all the small areas down the left and the years across the page.
