Scottish Neighbourhood Statistics is the Scottish Governments on-going programme to improve the availability, consistency and accessibility of small area statistics in Scotland.


This internet site is the main way in which the Scottish Government will disseminate the range of small area statistics including information on health, education, poverty, unemployment, housing, population, crime and social / community issues at the data zone level and above which support a number of the Governments targets and commitments aimed at closing the gap between disadvantaged areas and the rest of Scotland.

The Standard Reporter gives access to a set of pre-defined reports. Each report requires slightly different input from you (e.g. choose an area, choose a topic of interest) and each guides you through providing these inputs until the final report is produced. Each report is in tabular format, all have reassurance maps and some also provide the information in chart format.

This is a flexible reporting tool that requests you to choose the geographic areas you are interested in and then the indicators. You can choose areas from a map or from a list. The list and map are linked, so you can choose an area from the map and then further refine your choice using the list. It is easy to generate lots of different reports for the same area.

You can download a variety of information for further manipulation on your own PC. You can download all the indicators and associated data that have been updated in the last quarter or a complete copy of all the fact data showing all indicators or boundary files. You can also define your own subset of data that you wish to download using a similar construct to the Standard Reporter.
